3.3.11. The main checks and adjustments on the car (A4A42)

Check of level of oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission
Conduct the car some time until oil (ATF) in the check point reaches the normal working temperature (70–80 °C).
Install the car on the flat, horizontal platform.
Press a pedal of a brake and move the automatic transmission selector lever consistently through all provisions (detaining him in each of them for several seconds) for filling with oil (ATF) of all hydraulic system of management of the automatic transmission and the automatic transmission hydrotransformer, and then install the selector lever in situation "N".
Before extraction of the masloizmeritelny probe, clear of dirt the place about it. Take out the probe and check a condition of oil in the check point (ATF). At the following states it is necessary to execute capital repairs of the transmission:
– oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission has a burned smell;
– oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission has considerably black color;
– oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission is polluted by a large number of metal particles.
Check that the level of oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission is in the range of "NOTES" of the masloizmeritelny probe. If the level of oil (ATF) below of provided, add it to mark "NOTES".
Oil for automatic transmissions (ATF): GENUINE HYUNDAI ATF SP-II M.
If the level of oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission is lower normal, then the oil pump will take oil together with air that will result in various malfunctions. The air which got together with oil (ATF) to an automatic transmission hydraulic system forms bubbles which are the reason of foaming of oil. As a result pressure in a hydraulic system will become unstable that in turn will lead to delay at gear shifting (late inclusion of transfers) and pro-slipping of frictional couplings or brakes, etc. If level is higher normal, then due to rotation of gear wheels of planetary mechanisms there will be a plentiful foaming of oil (ATF) that as a result will lead to the same consequences, as well as at the low level of oil (ATF), and will become the reason of premature deterioration in a condition of oil.
In both cases air bubbles are the reason of an overheat, oxidation of oil (ATF) and adjournment of a varnish which puts out of action valves, couplings and executive mechanisms. Foaming also leads to emission of oil (ATF) through сапун an automatic transmission case that mistakenly take for leaks.

Make sure that attentively studied a condition of automatic transmission (ATF) oil on the masloizmeritelny probe before installation it to the place of (fig. 3.72).

Check of operation of the lever of the automatic transmission selector
Move the automatic transmission selector lever through all provisions, check smoothness of movement of the lever of the selector and its controllability. Check correctness of an inditsirovaniye of position of the lever of the selector.
Make sure that the lever of the selector can be switched to each situation.
Start the engine and be convinced that when switching from "N" in the "D" car moves forward and when switching to "R" – back.
At malfunction of the lever of the selector adjust a cable of management of the automatic transmission and the coupling of the lever of the selector. Check mobile parts of the mechanism of the lever of the selector assembled for lack of wear.

Adjustment of the switch of blocking of a starter (automatic transmission selector switch)
Install the selector lever in situation "N" (neutral situation).

Weaken a lock-nut of fastening of a cable of management of the automatic transmission to the lever of manual control (manual control lever) (fig. 3.73).
Install the lever of manual control in situation "N" (neutral situation).

Weaken bolts of fastening of the switch of blocking of a starter and turn the switch case so that the opening of 12 mm on the end of the lever of manual control was combined with an opening of 12 mm in a flange of the case of the switch (fig. 3.74).
Tighten bolts of fastening of the switch the specified inhaling moment, without allowing change of position of the switch.
Moment of an inhaling of bolts of fastening of the switch of blocking of a starter: 10–12 N · m.

NOTE
Be careful at adjustment of position of the switch of blocking of a starter, do not drop ring laying (O-ring) from the switch case. Carefully tighten bolts of fastening of the switch.

Check that the lever of the automatic transmission selector is in situation "N" (neutral situation).

Adjust a tension of a cable of management of the automatic transmission of a nut with a fillet so that the cable was slightly tense, then check smoothness of movement of the lever of the automatic transmission selector (fig. 3.75).
Execute road test and check compliance of the included ranges to each position of the lever of the automatic transmission selector and be convinced that the transmission works normally at each of ranges.

Adjustment of the servo-driver of a brake of compulsory decrease in transfer
Completely remove all pollution and other stuck particles around the adjusting screw of the servo-driver of a brake of compulsory decrease in transfer.
Weaken a lock-nut.
Repeat two times of operation of an inhaling of the adjusting screw until 5 N · m and the subsequent easing.
After that tighten the adjusting screw the moment of an inhaling of 5 N · m, then unscrew the adjusting screw within 3–31/3 turns.

Tighten a lock-nut the specified moment (fig. 3.76).
Lock-nut inhaling moment: 15–22 N · m.

NOTE
Before assembly apply DC780 sealant on the central part of a carving of the adjusting screw.

Adjustment of pressure basically of a magistala
Merge oil (ATF) from the automatic transmission.
Remove the oil pallet automatic transmission.
Remove an oil filter.

Remove the oil temperature sensor for the automatic transmission (fig. 3.77).

Press clamps of the sealing plug of a plait of wires of electromagnetic valves and press it in a case of the transmission (fig. 3.78).

Remove the block of the operating valves assembled (valve body assembly). The valve of the choice of the range (manual valve) can drop out therefore be careful, do not drop the valve (fig. 3.79).

Turn the adjusting screw of the regulator of pressure and adjust pressure in the main highway, (given to a brake of compulsory decrease in transfer (kickdown brake pressure) so that it corresponded to nominal rate (fig. 3.80).
At turn of the adjusting screw of the regulator of pressure clockwise pressure in the main highway decreases, at turn of the adjusting screw counterclockwise – increases.
Nominal rate: 860–900 kPa.
Change of pressure of oil at each turn of the adjusting screw: 38 kPa.
Check that ring laying is correctly established on the top surface of the block of the operating valves.
Replace new ring laying of the sealing plug of a plait of wires of electromagnetic valves.
Install the block of the operating valves in a case of the transmission and then from within insert the sealing plug of a plait of wires of electromagnetic valves into place. At installation be convinced that the acting parts of the socket are located, as shown in the figure 3.78. Be careful, do not jam a wire.
Tighten bolts of fastening of the block of the operating valves assembled the moment of 10-12 N · m.
Establish the automatic transmission oil filter.
Establish new laying of the oil pallet and the oil pallet.
Fill in nominal amount of oil (ATF) in the automatic transmission.
Execute check of pressure in a hydraulic system of management of the automatic transmission. If necessary repeat adjustment of pressure.
