2.1.7. Check of concentration of antifreeze

Measure the specific weight of cooling liquid by means of the areometer (fig. 2.7).
Take temperature to cooling liquid and define concentration of antifreeze taking into account dependence between the specific weight and temperature on the basis of data of the provided table.
Example: temperature of safe operation makes –15 °C when the measured specific weight makes 1,058 g/cm3 at a temperature of cooling liquid of 20 °C.

The recommended cooling liquid
If concentration of antifreeze is lower than 30%, then anticorrosive properties of cooling liquid considerably decrease.
If concentration more than 60%, then increases the antifreeze crystallization temperature (efficiency of heat exchange decreases), influencing adversely the engine. Therefore be convinced that the level of concentration of antifreeze is in limits of the specified range.
Do not mix antifreezes of different trademarks.
