Check correctness of landing of a belt in flutes of pulleys (fig. 2.15).
Make effort of 100 N for the reverse (non-working) side of a belt in the middle of a branch between two pulleys. Measure a belt deflection by means of the tension measuring instrument.

ATTENTION
At installation of a poliklinovy belt be convinced of correctness of landing of racetracks of a belt in flutes of pulleys.

If during the work the belt "squeals" or slips, check the surfaces of contact with pulleys and a pulley for lack of wear, damage or stratification. Besides, check belt tension degree.

NOTE
The tension of a belt is measured in the middle of a branch of a belt between the specified pulleys.
At installation of a new belt adjust a tension so that it corresponded to average value from admissible range in the column "for a new belt" of table 2.2. After installation of a belt let's the engine work within 5 min. or longer, then check compliance of a tension of a belt to nominal rate from the column "when checking" of table 2.2.
At adjustment of the belt which was in operation or the new belt which worked on the engine more than 5 min. use the nominal rates specified in the column "for the belt which was in operation" of table 2.2.
At periodic check of a tension of a belt use the nominal rates specified in the column "when checking" of tables 2.2.

Do not allow a contact with the dial of the measuring instrument something when performing measurements (fig. 2.17).

The tension measuring instrument – type "B"
When performing measurements turn the RESET handle in the direction specified by an arrow, and establish the index in situation "RESET".

If to remove the measuring instrument of a tension from a belt, then the index will remain in the situation corresponding to value of a tension. Consider indications after removal of the measuring instrument of a tension (fig. 2.18).
